SHOW STATEMENT
Transfigure is an exhibition and series of events that explore the multifaceted journey of queer metamorphosis. Transfigure seeks to illuminate the boundless potential of self-discovery, resilience, and authenticity within queer communities.
At the heart of Transfigure lies the notion of transformation as a revolutionary act. Drawing inspiration from the etymology of the word “transfigure” - to change in form or appearance - this exhibition delves into the intricate tapestry of queer lives and histories, showcasing the remarkable power of metamorphosis in shaping personal narratives and collective consciousness.
Transfigure is supported through the Arkansas Arts Council, the National Alliance on Mental Health, and Fenix Arts, an artist-run non-profit space on Mount Sequoyah in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This month’s programming was a collaboration between artist/curator Amber Imrie and key artist leaders at Fenix.
