Artist Statement

Presence. Anatomy. Relationship. Body language. Surprise. A lump of clay seems acquiescent but has its requirements, supports to hold it up at times, moisture. Press and dig, smooth and roughen, look hard until you see. Look again… and again. The clay, with its particular molecular structure, holds the shape that was satisfactory yesterday, but due to developing perception, is no longer so today. The clay, the concept, the unknown, the hands, the tools, conspire. What is wanting to be? What have I the skill, and need, and daring, to sculpt?
