MARTHA MOLINA
Martha Molina
a retired schoolteacher of more than 35 years, grew up in Northeast Arkansas, where her grandfather influenced and encouraged her to embrace her great grandmother’s Native American Culture. She actively practiced painting and various crafts, loving the materials that were found in nature. At an early age she sculpted animals and vessels with clay dug from her father’s gravel quarry. Martha continues to enjoy the feel of clay, creating functional pottery, and unique Roku pottery choosing alternative firing techniques which give the most unpredictable results. She finds that the process of working with clay greatly compliments the relaxation of painting places and things in nature with watercolor. Martha has worked as a multi-disciplined artist on the Arkansas Arts Council Arts in Education (AIE) Artist Roster and has conducted artist residencies throughout the state in theatre, photography, mask-making, watercolor, and clay.
