JANE HARTFIELD
Fiber, in its many forms, has inspired my entire adult life. Before I knew that I was an artist, I experimented with sewing, crossstitch, embroidery and knitting while raising a family and working as a nurse. When I discovered art quilts and hand dyed fabrics, I found my place in the world of art.
I am always studying color relationships in natural and man made environments. I take classes with color and quilt experts. I teach classes to eager students. I dye and paint fabrics in my home studio. I create art quilts, home decor and garments with my unique fabrics. Most of my work is abstract, but sometimes I
create trees or other naturescapes.
I grew up in Winnsboro, LA. It is Delta country where cotton was the main crop during my childhood. After high school, I attended college, got married, had 2 children, worked as a nurse in labor and delivery, and finally discovered my passion for creating art with fiber. I live in Fort Smith, Arkansas, USA with my husband and rescue dog. My family and friends are huge supporters and encouragers
of my colorful journey.
